A Century of Roots, A New Beginning

The story of our school is one of transformation. While we inherit a century-old legacy as a Buddhist mixed junior school in Kirimatiyana, our modern identity was forged in 2007. Reborn as Buddhist Girls’ College, our institution has undergone a "Renaissance" over the last 18 years, evolving from a local school into a beacon of excellence in the Puttalam District.
This rapid modernization was made possible through the spiritual guidance of the Maha Sangha, the strategic vision of political and educational leaders, and the tireless dedication of our parent community.

Visionary Growth

Guided by the vision of "Molding an Outstanding Child through Excellence in Education," the school began its journey in 2007 with just 350 students and 30 teachers. Today, that foundation has grown systematically into a powerhouse of over 2,000 students and a faculty of nearly 100 teachers.

Academic Excellence & Expansion

Despite starting with limited infrastructure, we have consistently expanded our academic horizons to provide our daughters with a path to higher education:
2012: Produced our first batch of university entrants from the Arts Stream.
2013: Successfully introduced the Commerce Stream.
2015: Launched the Science and Mathematics Streams, completing our transition into a full-fledged secondary college.

National Recognition

Our school is defined not just by academics, but by a vibrant culture of co-curricular success. Over two decades of challenging yet rewarding progress, we have secured prestigious honors, including:
The National Productivity Award (2012)
Best Environmental School Award (National Recognition)

A National Landmark

A historic milestone was reached on March 8, 2022. Coinciding with International Women’s Day, our college was officially elevated to the status of a National School.
Today, as a National School, we remain committed to our unique school culture—balancing traditional Buddhist values with modern educational standards—to ensure our students continue to shine across the island.
